What medical conditions will Social Security consider disabling?

Just about any disease or disorder diagnosed by a doctor can be disabling under Social Security law.

But Social Security has always had a special list of impairments (because they impair the ability to work) which helps them short-cut the decision making process.  This list is categorized by "body systems" and has specific required criteria under each condition.

How do you know if you have a condition that is listed?

See the list below (and click on each category) for more information and specific questions that will help you assess the severity of your medical condition.
